SAFETY

This course does not aim to provide students with all the knowledge necessary to work on hybrid or Electric vehicles. Smog Tech Institute warns technicians to strictly adhere to all published safety guidelines when working on or around hybrid and electric cars. The institute recommends a higher level of training than what this course offers to ensure safety. High-voltage systems are powerful and hazardous and can result in fatal accidents for technicians who do not have sufficient training.

Subjects covered include:

1. Explain the definition of a hybrid and electric vehicle.

2. Describe the unique characteristics of owning or driving a hybrid or electric vehicle.

3. Explain the differences in the levels of hybrid vehicles.

4. Describe the different powertrain configurations in a hybrid vehicle.

5. Explain the differences between one-, two-, and three-motor systems.
